Scott J. Preble
Principal/Attorney at Law
Antioch, California
Our principal, Scott J. Preble, has been practicing law since 1982 and has had his own law firm since 1987. He has substantial experience in estate law, business law, property law, and litigation.
A native of the State of Maine, Mr. Preble earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979 from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Over the years, this college has consistently been ranked in the top 10 National Liberal Arts Colleges by U.S. News & World Report in is annual rankings of institutions of higher learning.
He earned his first law degree in 1982 (graduating in the top one-eighth of his class) from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he distinguished himself by earning a coveted position on The Tulsa Law Journal editorial staff and was honored as the co-recipient of the award given to the outstanding graduating student in the school's highly-regarded energy law curriculum concentration.
After having practiced law for seven years, Mr. Preble returned to law school and earned his second law degree in 1990 from New York University in New York City. This was a specialty degree in taxation with an emphasis on tax law for estate planning and individual planning. The law school is currently ranked in the top 5 law schools in America by U.S. News & World Report and it is universally regarded as having the nation's top graduate tax law program.
Selected by a prestigious law firm in Oklahoma City, Scott Preble spent his first two years as an attorney servicing the oil and gas industry, before coming to the Golden State in 1984. After fourteen years of a solo practice in San Francisco, where he sharpened his skills in various areas of law (and during which time he took a brief hiatus to further his education by obtaining his second law degree), attorney Preble decided that it was time to settle in an area where he could live a good life and build the law practice of his dreams.
After researching several Bay Area cities, attorney Preble chose Antioch because of its location in the Delta region, the beautiful warm weather, his love of nature and the outdoors, and the fact that the area had a small legal community but a big demand for quality legal services.
In 2001 Mr. Preble brought his practice to our Rivertown and opened a branch office in 2002 in Brentwood to serve those who live in far eastern Contra Costa County. Since his move to Antioch he has greatly expanded his practice to what it is today.
Attorney Preble is a member of the California State Bar and the Oklahoma Bar Association and, as such, he is licensed to practice law in all state courts in California and Oklahoma. Mr. Preble is also admitted to practice before the following federal courts:
